Explore PythonThese are illustrative configurations. You choose the pair, direction, timing, size, and risk settings.
Define the instrument through its base and quote currencies rather than a cash-wallet abstraction.
Express supported stops and targets in the price unit native to currency pairs.
Represent directional exposure directly without requiring stock-style SHORT and COVER language.
Place user-defined market windows and time exits beside the entry and risk logic.
Currency positions use margin and can move rapidly. Strategy automation does not guarantee fills, prices, uptime, or outcomes and does not replace account monitoring.
A forex trading bot repeatedly evaluates user-defined rules for supported currency pairs and can produce eligible BUY or SELL orders with configured sizing, session timing, and exits.
Yes. Supported forex workflows use currency-pair and pip-native inputs, so entry windows and protective distances stay in the units familiar to FX traders.
Yes. Use visual configuration for supported pair, indicator, schedule, sizing, and exit rules, or Python when you need supported custom selection or signal logic.
Live use requires an eligible forex-enabled provider and account, a supported pair and order capability, sufficient margin, market-data access, and separate account-owner authorization.
The public USD-JPY example schedules a long entry at 03:00 on the first trading day of the month, uses 20% equity sizing, a 250-pip initial protective distance, a 500-pip target, a 20-day maximum hold and a 35% total-margin limit. “London open” is the template label: confirm the platform’s schedule timezone and daylight-saving effect instead of assuming local clock time.

Historical simulation, not live performance. Partial closes may create multiple matched records. The run uses available history; its dates can change as data refreshes. Inspect costs, fills, missing data and warnings in the full report. These settings demonstrate software behavior, not a recommended strategy.
OANDA is the marketed forex connection. Review its offered authorization, account, region, pair and data eligibility; Elite is needed for live connection. Backtesting uses available pair history and modeled margin/fills. Weekend or non-tradeable quotes are not evidence that the pair is currently executable. This hosted workflow is different from importing a MetaTrader EA.

| Provider for live connection | Market/account scope | Paper mode | Live mode |
|---|---|---|---|
| OANDA | Eligible currency pairs; regional entity, account and data rights apply | Investfly virtual portfolio: simulated funds; no provider connection required. | Elite: separately authorize an eligible provider account. |
Historical testing: Available currency-pair OHLCV bars with pip/margin semantics. This is modeled execution, not historical broker quotes, spreads or fill replay. Stored intervals are 1, 5, 15, 30 and 60 minutes and daily where data is available; inspect the reported period instead of assuming every symbol has every interval.
Plan and execution limits: Premium or Elite is required for continued automated deployment and historical testing after the trial. This market’s paper practice requires the applicable Premium/Elite entitlement after the trial; Standard’s continuing free practice is for stocks/ETFs. Provider support is not a promise that every account, country, symbol, structure or order type is eligible. Review the connection and strategy compatibility report, quote timestamp, fees and market-data rights. Investfly-managed protection and modeled fills can behave differently from native broker orders. Review current plans and testing assumptions.
The USD-JPY example above reports October 6, 2019–October 8, 2026 with 72 matched closed records. Its monthly 03:00 schedule and 20-day maximum hold make it different from an intraday scalping system. Preserve the pair, schedule timezone, pip distances and sizing when reproducing it.
| Check before comparing results | What to inspect |
|---|---|
| History and intervals | Available USD-JPY bars, missing periods and warm-up; daily and supported intraday coverage are instrument-dependent, not a universal start-date promise. |
| Pip units | For a JPY-quoted pair, a conventional pip is 0.01 quote unit: 250 pips is 2.50 JPY and 500 pips is 5.00 JPY. Cash risk also depends on units and currency conversion. |
| Sessions and clock | Confirm the scheduler timezone and daylight-saving behavior. A template name mentioning London is not an exchange-session filter. Inspect weekends and non-tradeable quotes. |
| Execution and funding | Review modeled fills, costs and margin. The model is not a replay of OANDA spreads, swap/funding charges, order rejection or execution at every historical tick. |
| Interpretation | Read losing periods, drawdown and individual closes; changing leverage or pair changes the experiment. A longer date span alone does not validate a strategy. |
Use the full saved settings and report linked above, then compare with forward paper observations. Connect an OANDA account only after checking its current regional, instrument and data eligibility.
