Student investment policy statement

Practice connecting a fictional household mandate to a virtual portfolio.

Fictional teaching exercise. Use virtual funds; values and settings are illustrative rather than recommended investments.

Student task

  1. State time horizon, liquidity needs and a fictional starting balance.
  2. Document eligible instruments, concentration limits and review cadence.
  3. Record one planned action and a counterargument before an order.
  4. Review modeled outcomes and state what the simulator omits.

Worked illustration

A fictional household needs $2,000 of a $10,000 practice balance available for a near-term expense. Reserving 20% as virtual cash illustrates a liquidity constraint; it is not a suggested allocation for a real household.
